SYNOPSIS
The Certified Internet Webmaster’s CIW Professional
is an entry to mid level, vendor-neutral, certification for IT professionals
who have knowledge in foundational IT skills as well as more advanced skills
in a job role of choice. The CIW Professional can also be taken en route to
more advanced CIW certifications.
In terms of recertification, CIW exams may be retired
for various reasons, including release of a new exam series, changes to related
certification programs, or determination by the IT industry that a job role has
become obsolete. Once retired, the exam is no longer available at testing
centers, although in some cases candidates can still apply credit for a retired
exam version toward a multi-exam certification. CIW offers six months' prior
notice for retirement of any exam so that interested candidates have time to
prepare and take the exam while it is still available.
Job roles of those pursuing this certification
typically include: web developer, web programmer, software developer, Internet
site designer, or an Internet systems administrator.
To achieve the CIW Professional,
a candidate must hold the CIW Associate certification and then pass one out of
eight possible CIW job-role exams.
