SYNOPSIS
The Certified Internet Webmaster’s Master CIW Administrator
is a mid to high level, vendor-neutral, certification for an IT professional
who identifies and defines network architecture, administers corporate
infrastructure and servers, monitors and analyzes network performance, and
implements and manages network security. The Master CIW Administrator builds
on the CIW Associate designation. Also, while achieving the Master CIW Administrator certification, the candidate will achieve CIW Professional certifications along
the way.
The
Master CIW Administrator certification emerged in the fall of 2000. In terms of
recertification, CIW exams may be retired for various reasons, including
release of a new exam series, changes to related certification programs, or
determination by the IT industry that a job role has become obsolete. Once
retired, the exam is no longer available at testing centers, although in some
cases candidates can still apply credit for a retired exam version toward a
multi-exam certification. CIW offers six months prior notice for retirement of
any exam so that interested candidates have time to prepare and take the exam
while it is still available.
Job roles of those pursuing this certification
typically include: systems administrator, online services manager, online
community manager, Internet or intranet network engineer, or IT department
associate or manager.
To achieve the Master CIW Administrator,
a candidate must pass four exams.
