SYNOPSIS • NetWare 6 CNA vs

Novell’s exam 050-686 (course 3016), “Foundations of Novell Networking” is the only exam required for the Certified Novell Administrator (CNA) 6.5 certification as well, as one of the core requirements for the Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) 6 certification. This exam is designed for candidates who “have a fundamental knowledge of networking.” There is no specific prerequisite for this exam but Novell strongly recommends that “individuals have a CompTIA Network+ certification before pursuing the CNA” and that candidates “have a good understanding of network implementation, support, media, topologies, protocols, and standards.”

This exam is easy to moderate and is priced at $125, $55.50, or $27.50 depending on the region in which it's taken. Most North American and European and some Asia Pacific countries fall under the highest price tier. The exam may be taken from Pearson Vue or Thomson Prometric.

The passing score is 650. This exam is a form test (traditional), consisting of 66 questions, and has a duration of 75 minutes.

The topics covered by this exam include:

  • NetWare 6 features, components and installation
  • Server Console commands, remote management
  • Novell Client
  • eDirectory uses, structure, composition, object classes, tools, rights
  • Admin and user objects

Passed with 718 out of 800. First 4 or 5 questions were really nasty and got me panicking. Once i calmed down i realised that a lot of the answers were self explanatory so i skimmed over the anwsers before reading the question. It made it a little easier to comprehend the scenario preceeding the question. As mentioned by other people really know your facts. knowlwedge of url's provide easy marks I recommend the exam cram book as it cuts straight to the chase.

I got a 681/800, just know the topics. This test is designed to trick you; you have to know your stuff. If you think something is supposed to be on a certain thing just because it gives you a specific reference, think through it, consider, how is this really done? Just stay calm, work through the test and think logically.

My first Novell exam in 6 years after finally deciding to get my CNE as I gave up part way through last time. Not a hard exam and used the exam cram book, which I think covered everything that I was asked in the exam. Lots of exhibts/ point and click type questions.

Passed with 709 (out of 800). Know the factual details (URL's, where things are on SYS, what tools do what functions etc). Used the Exam Cram book (Wyrostek) which covers everything you need to know and has plenty of practice questions.

Untitled Document > Persistent Group Chat: An Approach for More Profitable Team Communications : Unlike email, instant messages (IMs) do not allow group communication; nor do they persist -- you can't hold on to them for as long as you wish. Persistent group chat, however, allows businesses to organize persistent dialogue around business-critical topics, and keep them for easy retrieval later.
